The Batley Iftar

What is an Iftar?

The Batley Iftar takes place during the month of Ramadaan.

Muslims believe this to be a special time and spend the month enhancing their faith.

Fasting from food and drink during daylight hours throughout the month of Ramadaan is a requirement for Muslims.

The fast is broken each day at sunset with prayers and a communal meal. This is known as Iftar

The Batley Iftar is an open-air event in which children from local schools share the significance of Ramadaan.

At Iftar time prayers are performed and people are then invited to share food together.

We welcome everyone - Muslims, people of other faiths and people of no particular faith too.
